Why was my license suspended when I haven't been convicted of DUI?
A: If you blow over the limit (.08), the Department of Motor Vehicles will automatically suspend your license. This is called an "administrative suspension" and will occur even if you are subsequently acquitted of the DUI charge or if the charge is dropped. The only way to get an administrative suspension lifted is to win an administrative hearing, which you have to request within 10 days of your arrest.
